Description: In this video, a brief introduction of Single Sideband Modulation (SSB-SC) is given, and with the help of the Hilbert Transform, the mathematical expression of the Single Sideband Modulated signal is found. And at the later part of the video, how the SSB signal can be coherently demodulated is also explained. Timestamps for the different topics covered in the video: 0:00 Introduction to Single Sideband Modulation (SSB-SC) 1:20 Single Sideband Modulaiton Advantages 3:45 Hilbert Transform 9:44 Mathematical Representation of the SSB signal 17:11 SSB Demodulation Single Sideband Modulation: Single Sideband Modulation is one type of amplitude modulation where only one sideband is transmitted. Since upper and lower sideband carries the same information, any one of them can be suppressed and only one sideband can be transmitted. If the message signal has bandwidth B then the bandwidth required for transmitting the SSB-SC signal is also B. While in DSB-SC and conventional AM signal, the required bandwidth is 2B. Therefore it is bandwidth efficient modulation scheme. Typically SSB Modulation is used for voice signals. And when the carrier signal is suppressed then the SSB signal can be demodulated coherently at the receiver end. Advantages of SSB modulation 1) It is bandwidth efficient modulation scheme. 2) The transmitted power requirement is less than DSB-SC and conventional AM The other useful videos related to Fourier Transform and Amplitude Modulation: 1) Amplitude Modulation (AM) Explained: youtu.be/Yryi1bbmUjU 2) Double Sideband Suppressed Carrier (DSB-SC) Explained: youtu.be/3wBlB-TFwkQ 3) Fourier Transform of some useful functions: youtu.be/_Sd3sXGUAdY 4) Fourier Transform Properties youtu.be/Hs6T1webIKs This video will be helpful to all the students of science and engineering in understanding the Single Sideband Modulation (SSB-SC). #ALLABOUTELECTRONICS #SingleSidebandModulation #modulation #SSBSCModulation -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow my second channel: youtube.com/channel/UCGA2TO8ylVqFHpucwn_6Jlw Follow me on Facebook: facebook.com/ALLABOUTELECRONICS Follow me on Instagram: instagram.com/all_about.electronics -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Music Credit: bensound.com
